Worried about your future

Today we are happy healthy individuals; we are able to do the necessary tasks without any extra help. Life would be pleasant if it could continue just the way it is now, but then we have a future the most unpredictable aspect in the whole cosmos.

Some may argue that future is filled with suspense and we cannot control it, true but then we have to put in a small amount of effort to safe guard our future, equipping our lives with suitable amenities is no crime.

So to avoid late realizations, it is better to grasp the situation and thus equip one’s self. One way to accomplish this task is by taking insurance, the word insurance is certainly a golden one as it can be a source of consolation if we are stuck in the middle of any tribulation. Assuming that you know a lot about insurances, we are going stipulate one aspect of the insurance - long term care.

Long term care, every individual requires ample amount of care when he reaches a stage of not being able to take care of himself. The long term care provides such assistance for the individual for performing his daily activities such as bathing, dressing, commuting and other indispensable activities.

Why do I need long term care?

Some people or perhaps many consider that long term care is just not for them, they hate the idea of being a burden to others and they don’t want to lose their independence, so they fail to take up the long term care. This is the biggest mistake a person can make. Long term care is necessary because we may be affected by any of these ailments-

• Arthritis

• Cancer

• Heart disease

• Diabetes

• Strokes

• Alzheimer’s disease

• Depression

Do not panic, these are the various possible ailments one can face when they enter an old age, this may happen to anyone and wouldn’t it be better if every one takes up the precautionary measure.

Long term insurance is actually a very helpful feature, avoiding this will not make any sense later in life. The long term insurance provides a lot of benefits like home health care, where you will be provided with good personal care while you are at home.

Community care or adult day care, as the name suggests you can get care from a community care center, if a person is seriously ill or if he needs regular hospital care he can obtain the nursing home care. The hospice care, caregiver training and care coordination services are the other benefits for which the long term care would pay for.

There are two kinds of long term care insurances the individual long term care and the group long term care, as the names suggest the individual long term care insurance involves the insurer and the insured person. These kind of individual health policies need to be approved by the California department of insurance.

Where as group health policy involves a group and the insurer. Normally group insurances are always priced less than the individual policies. The same applies here too.

Thus we have to develop a positive attitude towards the future, this does not mean that you have to frighten yourselves and thus panic about your future. Careful planning and implementation of those plans would prove to be very helpful. It is better not to complicate matters just by saying that these ailments will not affect you. All these decisions of not taking up the long health care may seem to be convincing now, but the future awaits and it might offer anything so isn’t it better to prepare ourselves for the worst and thus lead our lives peacefully.

Family health insurance plan - saving money is becoming easier

Every once in awhile there will be front page news about the health care crisis. The escalating costs for hospital and physician services are making it more difficult for the insurance companies to stay competitive and at the same time take care of the needs of their policyholders. A family health insurance plan in today’s marketplace is evolving into something quite different from years past. The employer group health insurance insures the majority of Americans but there is a trend developing. There are more folks leaving their employer to start their own business. When you add that group of people to the folks that leave their employer because of lay-offs, illness, and terminations then you are creating a great demand for family health insurance.

Insurance companies are working hard to develop new solutions. The federal government has great interest in health care insurance. The hospitals and physicians are deeply affected by the insurance industry.

There has been a major shift in thinking about health insurance. It has become increasingly clear that higher deductible health insurance plans are much more cost efficient in the long run compared to the low deductible plans of years past. The higher deductibles reduce the cost of health insurance dramatically. The lower deductibles are no longer in vogue. The high premiums for the low deductible no longer justify the premiums.

Today’s Trends

1. High Deductible Major Med – The insurance professionals are encouraging people to take the higher deductible major medical policies. You are well protected for a major illness or injury in exchange for self-insuring the smaller claims.

2. Health Savings Accounts – This is the federal government’s contribution to the health insurance dilemma. These savings accounts are established by the individual for medical expenses only. They are tax deductible similar to an IRA and are great vehicles to use for the out of pocket expense from the higher deductible.

Life insurance available with tax relief

At last you can buy life insurance and get tax relief. The breakthrough results from changes in the Gordon Browns' latest Budget speech but the tax relief is only available on a new special sort of life insurance policy. You can't get tax relief on your existing life insurance policies.

These new policies exploit a loophole in the new Finance Bill and should result in savings of between 5% and 15% for standard taxpayers and around 30% for higher taxpayers.

But there are strings attached! You can't add extras on to your life policy such as critical illness cover and the insured sum must be a fixed sum. Neither can you have a joint policy. Basically, it has to be a bog standard, level term, single beneficiary, life insurance policy.

Then there are more restrictions, but quite honestly, these are unlikely to pose a problem to anyone unless they're very wealthy! You can't have one of these special life policies if the annual contributions you pay into your pension plus the life insurance premiums, exceed Ј215,000 per year. Furthermore, if the value of your pension fund plus the payout on your life policy exceeds Ј1,500,000, the current limit set by the Chancellor, then the excess will be taxed at 55%. Conventional life insurance policies are excluded from this calculation.

Tax relief on the premiums is automatically collected by the life insurance company so you pay a premium which is already reduced by standard rate tax relief. If you're a higher rate taxpayer, you'll have to claim the extra tax through your self-assessment tax return. However, once you've told your taxman about your premiums, they should automatically continue to give you the tax relief through your tax code.

So why are the savings less than the value of the tax relief? Well, the reason is that the life companies have to administer the tax relief and there are certain operational restrictions imposed by the Inland Revenue on the insurance company. This means that the basic cost of these policies is a little more than conventional life insurance – but after the tax relief you should save.

As with all these loopholes, you must be aware that the Chancellor could remove the tax relief. Having said that, it is rare for a future tax change to be applied retrospectively so you are likely to be safe. Your income could also change and move you into a lower tax bracket. This would reduce your savings.

This new type of life policy is now available from most of the big UK insurers and specialist life insurance brokers. However, you won't be able to get an online quotation – you'll have to speak on the phone to a Life Insurance Adviser.

And just to confuse matters these policies are known under a range of names: Pension Term Insurance, Life Insurance with Tax Relief, Life Protection with Tax Relief – but they all mean the same thing.

Oh yes, let me confirm one miss-understanding. No, you don't have to buy a pension at the same time!

Cheap car insurance for teens how to keep the rates down

The teenager shopping for car insurance is at a decided disadvantage. Car insurance rates are based on age and driving experience as well as driving record. The best way for teenage drivers to work their way into better rates is stay on their parents policy in order to gain driving experience and a driving record. There is a good chance that after three years and a clean driving record that a preferred policy from the parent’s insurance company can then be issued on the teen drivers that want to have their own car and pay for their own insurance. There are numerous discounts for the young driver today. Drivers training education is the most common discount. The drivers training course normally consist of 30 hours of driving with an authorized instructor along with 6 hours of classroom work. Some companies give discounts for good students that carry a 3.0 grade point average in high school or college. There is also a resident student discount available by some insurance companies. The student has to live over 100 miles away from home to receive this discount.

Age Rating Tiers – Most insurance companies have age rating tiers on young drivers. The ages from 16 to 21 is one tier and the rates are the highest in this time period. The next age tier begins at age 21 and ends at age 25. The rates drop significantly at age 21 and again at age 25.

Vehicles Make a Difference – The younger the driver the higher the rate. The rates are very high for young drivers on newer vehicles that require collision and comprehensive coverage. Older vehicles that only require liability coverage as a minimum state requirement is one way to cut costs for the teen driver. Utility vehicles like pick-up trucks receive a small discount and the teen driver can take advantage of that discount also. The teen driver needs to stay away from high performance vehicles and sports cars because the rates will be very high and these cars may not qualify for standard car insurance.
